Although the Majestic Star Casino has not been granted a license to operate in Pittsburgh yet, the Community College of Allegheny is already offering lessons for those who wish to work at the gambling facility. If it obtains a license, the casino is expected to open by the end of 2008.

College authorities explained they decided to include classes that could help find a job in a casino, such as craps or blackjack dealer, based on the good response to job offerings at Meadows Racetrack and Casino. The gambling venue received 20 applications for each of the 500 available positions.

The courses included in Allegheny’s Community College curriculum teach students how to project a professional image and improve their communication and listening skills. There is also a sales course that comprises several techniques.

The Majestic Star Casino is expected to hire about 800 people including slot machines supervisors and craps, blackjack and roulette dealers.
