According to a survey carried out by the region’s official statistics bureau, the number of employees in Macau’s gaming industry has increased about 30% over the past year.
The survey, directed by the Direccao de Servicos de Estatistica e Censos, showed that by the end of last year there were 44,743 paid employees involved in Macau’s gaming industry, which reveals a year increase of 22.9 per cent.
The investigation showed that 30,486 of the employees were involved in jobs that were directly related to betting services, such as casino floor persons and craps, blackjack and roulette dealers, while 5,341 were working as assistants at slot machines, hosts, security and surveillance workers and other positions which were not directly related to gaming.
Apart from this, the survey also showed that the average monthly earnings for full-time workers in Macau’s gaming industry increased 6.6 percent in December 2007, resulting in an average salary of US$1,862.
