As the Craps game can be intimidating for new players,
here is a list of terms that we hope it’d help you with terminology.
Any Craps – is a one-roll bet on every Craps number with one unit,
or groups of units, bet on the 2, 3 or 12. Its payoff is 7 to 1.
Any Seven – is a one-roll bet on any combinations of seven and
its payoff is 4 to 1.
Bankroll – It is a player’s ready cash for betting.
Barred Number – It can be whether the 2 or the 12. It makes a standoff
or push when betting Don't Pass or Don't Come.
Bet Numbers Across – These are five bet on all the “place”
numbers.
Big Six or Big Eight – You bet to roll a 6 or an 8 before rolling
a 7. Pays even money.
Box Point – The Shooter's number: 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10.
Boxman – the craps table supervisor.
Buy Bet - A ‘place bet’ made at ‘true-odds’ preferably
than at ‘place odds’.
Chop - Dice action of win-lose.
Come Bet – Just like a pass line bet, but the shooter’s point
has already been established.
Come-out Roll – It’s the first roll of the dice, after a
pass line decision.
Craps - The game of dice. Also used to refer to a roll of 2, 3 or 12.
Don't Come – Very similar to Don't Pass, but after the shooter's
Point is established.
Don't Pass– The difference with don’t come bets is that the
shooter's point is the Point number of the whole.
Flat Bets - The type of wagers in which the player bets equal amounts
on each roll win or lose.
Free Odds - A bet on true-odds available on pass and come bets.
Front Line - The same as the Pass Line.
Full Odds - The right odds.
High / Low - A one-roll bet on the 2 and the 12 at same time, with two
units bet, and its payoff is 30 to 1.
Horn Bet - A four unit bet that covers all three of the Craps numbers
(2, 3 or 12) and also the 11.
Hot Hand - Successive passes.
House - The casino.
Inside Bets – a bet on 5, 6, 8 and 9.
Lay Bet – Bet on the shooter to roll a 7 before the number is bet
on.
Lay Odds - An extra bet that lets the Don't Pass and Don't Come bettors
to give true odds on their bets.
Layout – the Craps table.
Natural – to roll a 7 or 11 on the come out roll.
Odds Bet - An extra bet which can be made by players on their Pass Lines,
Come, Don’t Come and Don't Pass bets. You bet on the shooter to
make is point.
Off – to indicate that bets are working.
On - to indicate that bets are not working.
Outside Bets – Place bets on 4, 5, 9 and 10.
Pass - A winning decision for players on the Pass Line.
Pass Line Bet – A bet that will win whether a 7 or 11 is thrown
on the first roll or the shooter’s point number comes up before
a 7.
Percentage - charges made by the casino.
Place Bets - boxes with numbers, where the player bets that any one of
the numbers 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 or 10, will be rolled before a 7.
Point Number - In a Come-out roll, the number that is different of 2,3,7,11
or 12.
Roll - To throw the dice.
Seven Out - When a shooter rolls a 7, after establishing a Point. He
loses.
Shooter - The player who is throwing the dice.
Stick - What the stickman use to manipulate with the dice.
Stickman - The dealer, placed on the center of the table, who uses the
stick to control the dice action.
Table Limits - The biggest and smallest bets that can be made at the
table.
Toss/Roll – To throw of dice.
Wrong Bettor - A player betting that the dice lose.
